Community Resource Board
The resource board, comprised of business owners, professionals, financial institutions, civic leaders, and economic development practitioners in Central Oregon, lead the project. The board is comprised of 20 to 50 people that represent a cross section of the community. They support the Facilitator by providing introductions to the general public, community leaders and potential clients. This board serves as a key piece of the Facilitator’s resource network, assisting the Facilitator in meeting the needs of the individual entrepreneurs.
The board serves two main functions.
- First, they provide a link to community resources or will become the resource themselves. Nothing in this process prohibits board members from investing or providing technical assistance to a business.
- The second function is to provide introductions to the Enterprise Facilitator. During the first three months of operations, each board member is expected to introduce the facilitator to at least ten people. The community introductions then become a regular part of the projects marketing.
Each board member receives training from the Sirolli Institute so they are grounded in the principles of Enterprise Facilitation. Each board member signs a confidentiality agreement and, prior to each board meeting; a sheet is circulated for signature that reaffirms the confidentiality of their discussions.
Resource board members share their practical knowledge and experience to assist entrepreneurs to start up and grow successful microenterprises. They also help to find creative solutions to the problems encountered by entrepreneurs, like identifying niche makets for unique products, or giving advice on how to deal with regulatory hurdles. They also help entrepreneurs to complete their Trinity of Management by identifying individuals who can complete one or more of these vital functions.
